This meter will allow you to check the humidity level and temperature quickly. The sensor is located at the lower edge of the meter, for best air circulation and fast readings. Place the meter in a room and after 3-5 minutes it will give you a stable reading of the current conditions. You then can use the readings to adjust the humidifier. If the meter reads "dry" it might be good to switch it on, if it reads "wet" you should switch it off to avoid mold.
