K-Type Thermocouple for Digital Thermometers
8" Stainless Steel Probe, 36" yellow spiral cable, Model TC-06
-58 to 1292°F (-50 to 700°C)
This is a extra long insertion thermocouple with a K-Type sensor. The sensor is housed at the tip of a 8 inch long stainless steel probe, which comes with a 3 inch long handle. It is important to keep the handle at room temperature. The maximum temperature on the handle is 200F (93C). It has a miniature type connector that will work with digital K-type thermometers (see my shop for a good selection).
This probe can be inserted in liquids or any object you like to measure. It is much easier to clean than the thermocouple wire that comes with many digital thermometers. It can be usd in HVAC to measure furnace and duct temperatures and to maintain heaters, kettles and furnaces. It has many applications in manufacturing, production as well as in science and laboratories. This is frequently used in schools and for science and science fair projects.
I frequently have customers who buy this for measuring the temperature of molten lead in bullet casting or for other low melting metals. The sensor is about 1/4 inch from the tip. The tip can be inserted about 1 inch into the molten lead to get you a good temperature reading. It is important to keep the handle at room temperature.
This model TC-06 is comparable to the model TC-03 (TC-3) thermocouple, which has a stainless steel sensor that is only 6 inch long.
Temperature Range: -58 to 1292°F (-50 to 700°C)
Stainless Steel Probe
Probe length: approx. 8 inch (20 cm)
Probe Diameter: 0.12 inch (3 mm)
Handle: 3 inch
Cable length: 36 inch, spiral type
Miniature K-Type connector
Took 3-4 seconds longer than another probe to measure boiling water. Was off by 1 degree F. Medium quality as these things go, as far as I can tell. I bought a probe elsewhere that took 2 full minutes and was 10 degrees off, and this is much better than that.
The temperature probe looks and feels solid. Plugged the unit into my calibrated temperature data logger and it worked perfectly. The temperature reading was the same as the previously used thermocouple. I am very satisfied with this temperature probe.
